■Product overview
SNDH-H series Hall effect speed sensors use magnetically biased Hall effect integrated circuits to accurately detect the movement of ferrous metal targets. A specially designed IC (integrated circuit) and permanent magnet are tightly sealed in a probe-type package. When ferrous metals approach, the magnetic flux density of a permanent magnet changes.
This is detected by the Hall IC. If the sensor is placed around the outer circumference of a rotating gear wheel, it detects teeth and spaces, for example, and provides a digital pulse output with a frequency proportional to the gear wheel speed. Optimal performance depends on variables, so consider the following combinations: Target material, placement and speed, sensor/target gap, and ambient temperature.
