Honeywell's MICRO SWITCH CPS series cable pull safety switches provide an easily accessible emergency stop signal, and a cost-effective means compared to the use of multiple emergency stop pushbuttons. The internal mechanism of the CPS series cable pull safety switches latches on both loose cables (push style) and pulled cables.
The 1CPS series is for applications with cable lengths of 76m [250ft] or less. Economical solution for short lengths and zone protection common in automated systems. The 2CPS series is used when the cable length is 152m [500ft] or less, such as long warehouse conveyor lines.
A cable tension window at the midpoint of the line displays the proper tension on the cable, making setup easy. The direct open switch contact remains closed when the actuation cable is under proper tension and the reset knob is set to the RUN position. When the actuation cable is pulled, loosened, or damaged, the cam opens the NC (normally closed) switch contact.
Snap-action action causes the switch contacts to change state and mechanically latch almost simultaneously when the cable is pulled, loosened, or damaged. The NC switch contacts will remain open until the CPS properly retensions the cable and manually rotates the reset knob.
When the direct opening switch contact opens, the auxiliary contact also operates (the open contact closes). The auxiliary contacts are electrically isolated from the direct opening switch contacts. NO (normally open) contacts are used for monitoring and signaling.
