About This Product
CANUSB is a CAN to USB Gateway that connects to a PC's USB port and communicates with the CAN bus.
You can read data passing through the CAN bus through the USB port, or send data from your PC to the CAN bus. Ideal for use as an inexpensive and easy-to-use CAN bus monitor for testing the development of applied equipment using CAN.
CANUSB is connected to a personal computer (PC) using a USB cable, and can be connected to the CAN bus with a simple command from the PC side, and can be used to continuously read data passing through the CAN bus and send data to the CAN bus.
CANUSB uses FTDI's FT245BM for USB signal conversion, and the CANUSB driver is automatically installed after a short while when the USB cable is first plugged into the PC. (When connecting PC to Net)
There are two types of CANUSB drivers, and the one that is automatically installed is the one for USB. Another virtual COM, VCP (Virtual COM Port) driver, allows CANUSB to be handled in the same way as RS232, etc., and in the same way as a serial port. By incorporating this, you can use the serial port connection software as is. To use the VCP driver, you need to add and install the driver separately. Please refer to the instructions provided when purchasing CANUSB.
If you install the VCP driver, you can also use the monitor software CAN232J_PRG sold by our company in combination with CANUSB. Since CANUSB receives power from the USB port, there is no need to supply power externally, and it also operates as a high-speed version of CAN232.
