About This Product

The high-shear screw in this device, which consists of three different extruders, can control the viscosity of the resin by rotating at a maximum rotation speed of 3,600 min⁻¹. This makes it possible to produce low-viscosity resin raw materials that solve problems in injection molding of thin-walled shapes, such as "resin not flowing into the narrow parts of the mold." Additionally, by installing a nozzle etc. on the downstream side, it is also possible to manufacture melt-blown nonwoven fabrics from general-purpose grade resin in an integrated manner. This high-shear processing equipment, which can produce low-viscosity grade resin from general-purpose grade resin, will contribute to the development of new materials for our customers.

■Machine configuration

This equipment consists of three extruders with different roles. In the first preliminary kneading section, the resin is melted and kneaded using a twin-screw kneading extruder. (It is also possible to add fillers and additives.) After that, the high-shear screw, which is the main part of this device, rotates at high speed to thermally decompose the resin and reduce its viscosity. Finally, the resin is cooled and extruded using a single-axis metering pressure section. This allows general-purpose grade resins to have lower viscosity without the use of peroxides.
