About This Product

■Features

PPS is a super engineering plastic with excellent heat resistance and mechanical strength. Heat resistance, dimensional stability, chemical resistance, mechanical strength, and abrasion resistance are all at a high level. It is mainly processed by cutting and injection molding. The continuous use temperature is approximately 220℃, the melting point is approximately 278℃, and the glass transition point is approximately 88℃. It has excellent chemical resistance and is resistant to most chemicals in environments below 200℃. Although PPS has heat resistance close to that of PEEK, the material price is 1/2 to 1/4 of PEEK. Water absorption is extremely low, with a water absorption rate of 0.02% after 24 hours of immersion at 23℃. Dimensional changes due to water absorption and moisture absorption hardly occur. Furthermore, it has a low coefficient of thermal expansion and is resistant to dimensional changes due to temperature changes. Due to these factors, it is also used as a material with excellent dimensional stability.

■Mechanical strength

Excellent tensile strength (79MPa) and bending strength (128MPa). However, it is weak against impact and may chip or crack.

■Heat resistance

Continuous use temperature is 220℃, demonstrating high performance even in high temperature range.

■Weather resistance

PPS is a highly weather-resistant plastic material that is resistant to deterioration due to UV rays. Therefore, it is also used for parts exposed outdoors.

■Flame retardant

PPS is a flame retardant material. It is hard to burn and produces little smoke when burned.

■Precautions when using and processing PPS

The continuous use temperature is 220℃, but the glass transition point is as low as 97℃, so care must be taken when using it under high loads and high temperatures. Deformation can occur at temperatures lower than 220°C. It is a material that is difficult to handle during processing because it is easily broken and chipped, and is prone to burrs.

■Appearance

・The top and bottom surfaces of the material are shiny. ・Light gray ~ light brown

■Applications

Manufacturing line parts, medical device parts, semiconductor/LCD related parts, etc.
