About This Product

Scanners using linear image sensors use a line light source to illuminate the reading area. The light guide rod guides the light from the LEDs placed on the end face, and works to evenly illuminate a long, narrow strip-shaped area without wasting any waste.

■Characteristics of NALUX's light guide rod In order to extract light uniformly, microprisms are formed in one direction of the light guide rod, and this is a development of the technology cultivated for LCD backlight light guide plates. The design and processing technology that optimizes the cross-sectional shape and pitch of the microprisms utilizes the accumulated technology cultivated in light guide plates.

The light reflected by the microprism is focused by the lens function on the light output surface. The light guide rod method was already used in close-contact optical systems (CIS method), but we established a unique patented light distribution control method and precision processing technology to realize it, and developed a reduced optical system with strict specifications. (CCD method).

■Patented technology

By forming semicircle-shaped light-diffusing protrusions on the light emitting surface and changing the height, diameter, number, etc. of the protrusions depending on their position, fluctuations in illuminance are suppressed and stable illuminance characteristics are achieved.

■Extensive development/mass production track record

Light guide rod length is from 120mm to 460mm. The light source is a white LED and a 3in1 type LED. Applications include office multifunction devices, bill validators, mark sheet readers, whiteboards, and high-speed document scanners. The reading methods are CIS method and CCD method. We have a rich track record of designing and developing a wide variety of light guide rods to meet the individual requirements of various users. Although this product has severe space constraints and is difficult to mold, we use optical simulation to customize it with the optimal QCD balance for the application. In addition, we can also handle light guide rods (erasers) for erasing printer charges.
