About This Product

A moth's eye is lined with microscopic concave and convex structures that work to suppress the reflection of light. Such a structure is called an Anti-Reflective Structure. One of the typical methods of imparting anti-reflection functionality to optical products is surface coating by vapor deposition, but anti-reflection structures based on surface micromachining have low dependence on the incident angle of light due to the microstructure, and the film It has the advantage of not peeling or cracking in principle, and can be processed on materials that have poor adhesion and are difficult to coat (such as acrylic). At NALUX, we are developing processing technology that adds an anti-reflection structure to the lens surface.

■Principle

Light reflection is caused, for example, by a sudden change in the refractive index when light enters a lens from air. When structures with a pitch smaller than the wavelength of light exist on the lens surface, the change in refractive index at the boundary becomes gradual, suppressing light reflection.

■Characteristics of NALUX's anti-reflection structure (ARS)

・Improved transferability by changing the moth-eye structure from a convex shape to a concave shape (U.S. Patent No.11/921,324 obtained) ・Unique processing method (patent No. 5584907) Can be applied to curved surfaces and large areas ・Processing results φ60mm ・Optimal shape design possible using proprietary optical design software ・Reactive ion etching technology directly processed into optical products (JP-PATENT No.6611113, No.6901189)

■Applications/use examples/processing examples, etc.

- Application to lighting lenses and applications that require high reliability, such as in cars and under the scorching sun. ・Imaging and sensor systems, etc. ・Lens products that require dustproof properties such as medical endoscope lenses

■Application of optical system with high incidence angle dependence

Base material: silicone, polycarbonate, acrylic, quartz glass, etc. We have a track record of processing various materials

■Example of ARS processing on quartz glass substrate

On the quartz glass substrate without ARS, the letters on the wall are reflected, but on the left side base, which has an anti-reflection structure, the letters do not appear reflected and appear transparent.
