About This Product

A free-form mirror is an optical element that uses a free-form surface as its reflecting surface. In off-axis reflective optical systems, it is difficult to control aberrations with rotationally symmetric optical elements, so it is essential to use free-form surfaces. For many years, Nalux has been producing free-form prisms for camera viewfinders. In recent years, camera viewfinders have become increasingly digital, and their use for this purpose has decreased dramatically, but reflective optical elements that use free-form mirrors and prisms are used in many products, such as HUD (Head up Display) and AR glasses. It has been adopted. Reflective optical elements are characterized by the fact that they can be used in wavelength bands that cannot be transmitted through resin, and that they do not produce chromatic aberration. NALUX also manufactures reflective optical system units that use multiple free-form mirrors.
