About This Product

The fθ lens has distortion characteristics expressed by the relational expression y=fθ. Here, y is the image height, f is the focal length, and θ is the half angle of view (angle of incidence). These lenses are used in scanning optics for laser beam printers. NALUX has been producing resin free-form fθ lenses for laser printers since 1989. Conventional scanning optical systems for laser printers require a combination of multiple glass spherical lenses or long cylindrical lenses. The adoption of a free-form surface increases the degree of freedom in correcting aberrations and greatly contributes to reducing the number of lenses used in the scanning optical system. This has contributed to the miniaturization and cost reduction of laser beam printers.
