■What is inflammation?Inflammation can be caused by wounds, microbial infections, autoimmune diseases, etc., and exhibits symptoms of acute inflammation such as redness, swelling, and fever. Chronic inflammation has been suggested to be associated with various pathological conditions such as aging, cancer, arteriosclerosis, obesity, and neurological diseases. It is known that various inflammatory cells infiltrate into inflamed areas and express inflammatory factors, with IL-1β (interleukin 1 beta) being a representative factor.
