■Summary
The VIC-3D high-speed vibration analysis system is a high-speed digital image correlation system that can measure the displacement of a vibrating object in all three axes. Because we use a high-speed camera, it is now possible to measure the impulse response of the actual machine to impact and the vibration mode of transient phenomena. This system achieves nano-level resolution and supports displacement in all three axes.

A car is subject to a lot of force while driving. Vibrations from the engine and road surface are transmitted through the chassis and suspension of the vehicle, and then to the braking system, which is one of the most important mechanical components.
In this example, we measured the vibration modes of the rotor by hitting the 14-inch diameter brake disc of a large dump truck with a small hammer. With the VIC-3D high-speed vibration analysis system, mode shapes in three directions are easily visible and measured. The vibration is recorded as small as 40nm at approximately 2,000Hz.
