About This Product

The advent of next-generation high-speed buses has increased the need for printed circuit board manufacturers to control signal loss in high-frequency PCB transmission lines. High-frequency signal loss is almost negligible for printed circuit boards operating in frequency bands below 2 GHz, but when operating in frequency bands above 2 GHz, this signal loss becomes a major problem. The Polar ATLAS system was developed to quickly and easily solve this problem.

■Atlas insertion loss measurement system

The Atlas Insertion Loss Measurement System is designed to be easy to use, allowing PCB manufacturers and others to make accurate and reproducible measurements of PCB transmission line loss in the PCB manufacturing environment. The system consists of Atlas Si for TDR or Atlas Si for VNA.

■Testing transmission line loss in production environment

Polar Atlas software allows PCB manufacturers to test PCB transmission line losses in a tightly controlled manufacturing environment. When used in conjunction with precisely designed test coupons and GHz probes, Atlas uses a proprietary algorithm to extract frequency-dependent loss characteristics. The Atlas system is compatible with the Tektronix DSA8300 or DSA8200 oscilloscope TDR. PCB manufacturers can choose to use Atlas directly connected to their Tektronix DSA, or Polar offers a turnkey package. Atlas supports multiple test methods including Delta-L, Delta-L 3 Line, SET2DIL (single-ended TDR to differential insertion loss), and provides differential insertion loss and valid ratios from single-ended tests and dedicated coupons. Extract the dielectric constant. It also supports the SET2SEIL method (Single-ended TDR to Single-ended Insertion Loss) and SPP (Short Pulse Propagation) methods for single-ended insertion loss testing as required by IPC-TM-650.
