About This Product

Gigafit is a self-tapping screw technology that can be used for ultra-high tensile strength materials of 1,180Mpa. It uses a material with low risk of brittle fracture, and has a hard surface and a soft core. It can be used for applications that aim to increase strength and reduce weight, such as bonding ultra-high tensile strength materials with other metal materials.

■Main uses

・Tapping fastening of ultra-high tensile strength materials ・Reduced total cost by reducing the number of nuts - Prevents tapping screws from seizing on SECC materials that have been work-hardened by burring. Product features

■Tapping can be used for ultra-high tensile strength materials.

Tapping can be used on 1,180Mpa high tensile strength steel plates. There is a large difference between screwing torque and breaking torque, allowing for safe tightening. Of course, there is no damage to the threads.

■Materials with low risk of brittle fracture

We use steel materials with reduced carbon content and increased manganese content. This reduces the risk of brittle fracture.

■The heart is set to be soft.

The surface hardness is about Hv670, and the core hardness is about Hv380. The hard surface allows tapping without damaging the threads, and the soft core reduces the risk of brittle fracture.

■Recommended thread shape

Ideal for thread forming fastener shapes that form internal threads while plastically deforming the pilot hole. Please contact us for detailed data such as mechanical properties.
