About This Product

In the field of coatings and plastics, the state of the interface greatly influences the performance of the final product. Molecular structure and physical forces ultimately determine interlayer adhesion. The purpose of adhesion agents and coupling agents is to contribute to a stable bond during these steps. It is not realistic to use different additives depending on the mechanism of action and field of application. When you hear the terms adhesion promoter, coupler, coupling agent, or modifier, it may seem like the same additive is used for different applications. Coupling agents are used to improve the mechanical properties of synthetic composites, and may also be used to provide adhesion to substrates. Definitions aside, these additives are useful for improving mechanical adhesion, simplifying compounds, and enhancing mechanical performance, adhesion on old painted surfaces, stain resistance, water resistance, and corrosion resistance. ■Features

BYK-3941 P improves the adhesion of powder coatings to metal substrates with various pretreatments. It is also effective for use in powder coatings for non-metallic substrates. This improved adhesion shows better results in natural salt spray testing (NSS) and other standard test methods used to test adhesion of powder coatings.

■Recommended use

BYK-3941P is recommended for all powder coatings and coating systems based on epoxy, polyester and polyurethane resins. It is also ideal for mixed formulations of polyester and epoxy resin. This product typically requires use in combination with a leveling agent such as BYK-368P or BYK-3900P.

■Recommended addition amount

0.5-3% as an additive to the total formulation. Please use the recommended addition amount as an initial value. Please conduct an actual test to determine the optimum amount to add.
