About This Product

Various surface defects occur during the application/coating process to substrates. One is due to the large difference in surface tension. For example, if the surface tension of the coating is higher than that of the substrate, poor wetting (high contact angle), poor adhesion, and repellency will appear. After application and even during drying, this difference in surface tension can cause undesirable leveling and color lifting. BYK additives can improve or prevent these surface defects. Furthermore, surface conditioners are also effective in improving surface slip properties and cleanliness. A silicone-based surface conditioner for solvent-based paints that moderately reduces surface tension and moderately increases surface slip properties. Product data

■Features

This additive exhibits moderate surface tension lowering ability. Improves surface slip properties as well as leveling properties and gloss. Silicone additives prevent the formation of Benard cells. BYK-300 also improves wetting to the substrate and provides anti-blocking properties.

■Recommended use

BYK-300 has broad compatibility and is suitable for all solvent systems.

■Recommended addition amount

0.1-0.3% The recommended addition amount as an additive for all paints is listed as an initial value. Please perform a laboratory test to determine the optimum amount to add.

■Addition method

This additive can be added at any stage of the paint manufacturing process, including post-addition. Diluting before mixing makes addition easier.

■Special notes

Compared to silicone oil, it is a user-friendly additive with fewer side effects when used in appropriate amounts. However, please check whether this additive stabilizes the foam, recoatability, and repellency.
