About This Product

PCM-PAC is a flexible pack filled with phase change material. Phase change material PCM is a material that has the property of changing into a liquid phase (liquid) and a solid phase (solid) depending on the temperature.

PCM is in a liquid (gel-like) or solid state depending on the temperature at that time. When the temperature is low, it is solid, and when energy is applied and the temperature rises and exceeds the phase change temperature, it changes to liquid. It requires a large amount of energy (latent heat) to turn into a liquid. In other words, it absorbs heat energy from its surroundings and turns into a liquid, thereby taking heat away from its surroundings.

If there is a heat source in the surrounding area, it works to suppress the temperature rise.

Imagine a drink with ice. It takes a lot of energy to melt ice, so unlike water alone, ice can prevent the temperature from rising for a long time.

For example, PCM-C28, which undergoes a phase change at 28℃, is liquid at temperatures above 28℃ and solid at temperatures below 28℃. It absorbs a large amount of thermal energy when it changes from solid to liquid, so if heat is applied from a low temperature, the temperature rise can be suppressed to around 28℃ until it completely melts. After that, when the temperature drops or the heat generation stops, it gradually radiates heat and returns to its solid state, waiting for the next cycle.

It is useful for preventing overheating of electronic devices, preventing increases in the body temperature of living things such as people, preventing increases in internal temperature of rooms and boxes, and as a heat countermeasure.
