Facing Center was created in response to the request that if a horizontal boring machine could be used to perform horizontal facing processing equivalent to a vertical lathe, production time could be significantly shortened. The rigidity and precision of the built-in type face plate are incomparably higher than conventional attachment type face plates, and there is no need to attach or remove it, and it can be processed using a boring spindle. This is an ideal machine that uses a rotary table to perform complex processing on multiple surfaces in one setup.
However, it was not easy to develop a built-in face plate with high rigidity, high precision, and high rotation speed that could withstand long-term specifications. After several years of trial and error, and decades of continuous improvement, the final product is here. Since its development, the FB series has been used by customers around the world in a wide range of industries, including heavy electrical equipment, shipbuilding, construction machinery, oil-related companies, and pump and valve manufacturers.
■Improvement of productivity
・Various machining can be performed by mounting the workpiece once, so setup time can be significantly shortened.
・Since the boring spindle can be fed out and the face plate can be slid, the number of tools used can be significantly reduced compared to machining centers.
・No need to install or remove the face plate like the attachment face plate of a horizontal boring machine.
- All axes can be independently NC controlled, and by adding automatic tool change (ATC) to both the boring spindle and face plate tool holder, all axes can be operated automatically.
・By adding an automatic pallet changer (APC), setup time can be further shortened. (*Optional)
■Main structural features
- Built-in face plate allows for heavy cutting with much higher rigidity and precision than the face plate attachment of horizontal boring machines.
・The rotational drive system of the face plate is separate from the main shaft and has high torque characteristics. Additionally, the bearings are supported by independent large-diameter bearings, maintaining extremely high rigidity.
- Equipped with an auxiliary slide that moves in the opposite direction to the face plate slide, and an automatic balance mechanism. (Face plate diameter φ700mm only)
- The boring spindle is made of nitrided and super-finished special steel, which is popular for horizontal boring machines, so there will be no aging or wear even after many years of use.
・The main structures (column, bed, saddle, table) are made of high-grade cast iron with a highly rigid box frame structure and a rational rib arrangement, providing not only static rigidity but also dynamic rigidity (especially vibration damping). rate).
