About This Product

■Pelletized heat storage material “Thermo Pelle”

When activated carbon adsorbs solvent vapor, heat equivalent to the heat of condensation is generated and the temperature rises. On the other hand, during desorption, heat equivalent to the heat of evaporation is removed and the temperature drops. By the way, the adsorption and desorption performance of activated carbon depends on the temperature; low temperatures favor adsorption, while high temperatures favor desorption. Therefore, under usage conditions that cause rapid temperature changes (such as when treating high-concentration solvent vapor with activated carbon), the temperature will rise rapidly as adsorption progresses, resulting in a decrease in adsorption performance, or conversely, as desorption progresses, the temperature will rise. A phenomenon occurs in which the desorption performance decreases suddenly. When using activated carbon for solvent recovery, one of the keys to efficiency is to control the temperature rise and fall associated with adsorption and desorption. In addition, it is important from a safety perspective to suppress rapid temperature rises, especially during adsorption. To address these issues, the Osaka Gas Chemical Group is developing heat storage material pellets that suppress rapid temperature changes in activated carbon. This is a material that utilizes the phase change between solid and liquid in the substance it encapsulates, absorbing heat when changing from solid to liquid, and releasing heat when changing from liquid to solid. When these heat storage material pellets are used in combination with activated carbon, the heat storage material absorbs the amount of heat equivalent to the temperature increase during adsorption, and the heat storage material provides the amount of heat equivalent to the temperature decrease during desorption, mitigating sudden temperature changes in the entire system. can.

■Solvent resistance of heat storage material

The heat storage material is pelletized from phenolic resin, which has high solvent resistance, and has high durability against commonly used organic solvents.
