About This Product
■Challenge
Electrical equipment in any environment is subject to temperature changes and the potential for condensation to form within the sealed enclosure. It is formed by the difference in air pressure between the inside and outside of the housing. Condensation inside the housing can cause rust, short circuits, and other damage, and repeating these can cause electrical failures and electrical problems, resulting in equipment shutdown and expensive repair costs.
■Solution
By learning from the natural world, Whisker has developed a solution with breathable products. The breathing ePTFE membrane maintains a constant pressure difference between the inside and outside of the housing, minimizing condensation formation.
How does condensation form inside the housing? When electricity is applied, the temperature inside the housing increases.
When the power is off or at night, a temperature difference occurs between the internal temperature of the case and the external temperature. This temperature difference lowers the internal air pressure and creates an airflow from the outside to the inside of the housing. Condensed air frost can cause negative effects such as short circuits inside the enclosure.
■Function of vent gland
By using a vent gland and vent plug, internal and external air pressure is kept constant, but the waterproof rating remains completely unchanged. Vent glands and vent plugs are unique products that allow for high airflow while maintaining a waterproof rating. The ePTFE membrane used allows air to pass through from both directions and prevents water from entering from one side.
■Convenience
- Minimizes condensation inside the housing, reducing expensive repair costs due to breakdowns.
- Eliminates the need for expensive and high-maintenance ventilation systems.
- Eliminates the need for drain holes that lower the waterproof rating.
- Eliminates expensive maintenance and replacement costs, resulting in cost reduction.
