This is because an amino acid called homocysteine ​​increases in the blood.

It is said that when blood homocysteine ​​concentration increases, oxidative stress damages vascular endothelial cells and becomes a factor in blood clot formation. It also affects blood vessels and nerve cells in the brain.

It is thought that arteriosclerosis progresses through the process described above. People with TT type who have low MTHFR activity have a stagnation in the supply of active folic acid and are unable to convert homocysteine ​​to methionine, so homocysteine ​​tends to accumulate.
