About This Product

The cone side viewer enables inspection of the side shape of cylindrical molded products, scratches and stains, and print quality inspection of patterns, letters, etc., which were previously difficult to do. In addition, by simplifying the inspection method, inexpensive inspection equipment can be realized.

■With conventional inspection methods

Inspection of cylindrical products was only possible by installing multiple area cameras or using a line sensor camera and rotating table. The method using area cameras requires at least three cameras, and more depending on the inspection accuracy. High-speed or multiple image processing devices are required. Color image processing requires processing three monochrome images for each camera at the same time, making it expensive. It is necessary to match the angle of each camera, and when installing into existing equipment, it may not be possible to secure installation space. On the other hand, with methods using line sensors, the inspection accuracy depends on the accuracy of the conveyor, so the conveyor tends to be expensive, and the product to be inspected must be rotated. Color line sensors are available, but they are expensive cameras. For the reasons mentioned above, it has been difficult to conduct an easy inspection.

■In the cone side viewer

This is an optical system that uses lenses and mirrors that can easily inspect products such as those mentioned above. By using a cone side viewer, it is possible to inspect the top and side surfaces of caps used for PET bottles, etc. with a single camera.

■Software

Images imported using Cone Sight Viewer (cone images) are difficult to understand for the human eye. When displaying detected defective areas, it is easier to confirm them by displaying them as unfolded bands (normal images). In order to perform this kind of display, we provide software called "Cone" that converts cone images into normal images. Cone quickly unfolds the cone image from the camera into a normal image. It has the following basic functions: ・Input function from camera ・Conversion from cone image to normal image ・Function to save cone images and normal images Cone images and orthoimages can be saved in bitmap and PNG formats.
