■SummaryThis is a thickness meter (film thickness meter) that uses soft X-rays. Measures the thickness and density (basis weight) of sheet and plate-like objects without contact (soft X-rays). Rather than measuring the thickness directly, the thickness and density (basis weight) are calculated by comparing it with a reference material.

Generally, to measure the thickness distribution in the width direction of a sheet, a detection system is transported using a scanner. A laser displacement meter is a common method for measuring thickness without contact, but when a laser displacement meter is mounted on a scanner, it can only be transported with an accuracy far lower than that of a laser displacement meter, so the resulting It is difficult to measure with high precision.

On the other hand, methods such as X-ray thickness gauges that estimate thickness by transmission attenuation measure the attenuation between the air layer, the sample, and the air layer, but the attenuation due to the sample is far greater than that from the air. , the effect of transportation only appears as a change in the thickness of the air layer, and the effect is slight. Therefore, it is possible to measure with high precision.
