About This Product

■Product overview

Achieves long life in mirror cutting and micro-shape machining of cemented carbide. Sumidia® Binderless is a new material developed by Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. Fine particles of several tens of nanometers in size are tightly bound together without a binder, and it has a hardness that exceeds that of single-crystal diamond. It also lacks crystal anisotropy and specific cleavage planes. By combining this material with our specialty diamond precision polishing technology, we have created a tool that is unprecedentedly resistant to chipping and has a long lifespan. Sumidia® is a registered trademark of Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd.

■Features

・Achieved excellent fracture resistance and wear resistance not found in single-crystalline and polycrystalline diamonds. ・Has a sharp and precise cutting edge equivalent to "UPC®" (single crystal diamond) ・Since there is no anisotropy, it is not affected by crystal orientation.

■Applications

Processing of cemented carbide glass lens molds, prism sheet large roll molds, light guide plate large molds, glass lenses, and other highly hard and brittle materials.
