About This Product

MicroBio μ3D AutoScanner, which uses the microcolony method [based on time-lapse image analysis], enables accurate evaluation of agar media. The fact that it is now possible to display the status of culturing microorganisms in a graph means that the status can be quantified and visualized. Using standard strains allows you to understand and evaluate the performance of agar media. Evaluating culture performance using graphs is a static method that involves simply determining the culture time such as 24 or 48 hours, culturing, and checking the number and size of colonies formed as a result of culture. This means that you can also use the shape of a graph dynamically created by colonies that are cultured and sequentially detected. If the number of bacteria added as a standard strain sample is small, the shape of the graph will not be completely formed, so it is preferable to add a large number of bacteria, and if possible, adjust the number to several hundred or more to get a clear shape. Each point on the graph obtained when the bacterial concentration is low corresponds to a point on the graph obtained when the bacterial concentration is high.

■Key points of agar medium performance evaluation

・Create a graph while culturing the agar medium to be evaluated to which a sample of the standard bacterial strain has been added using MicroBio μ3D for agar medium. (Considering the probability, it is desirable that the bacterial concentration of the sample be several hundred/ml or more.) - A good colony count graph should look like one step (for samples of one bacterial species). ・The ideal shape of the colony histogram is a bell-shape with a normal distribution. ・Culture the same sample on a standard agar medium using MicroBio μ3D and compare with this. (Confirmation of collection rate)
