About This Product

■Summary Metrohm's oxidation stability test device/thermal stability test device Rancimat can evaluate the degradation of oils, biodiesel and biodiesel blends, as well as PVC (polyvinyl chloride) in accordance with various international standards. ■Main features - Oxidation stability test device 892 Professional Rancimat is a device that easily and quickly measures the oxidation stability of natural oils and fats contained in foods, medicines, cosmetics, etc. using the Rancimat method. - Oxidation stability test device 893 Professional Biodiesel Rancimat measures the oxidation stability of biodiesel (fatty acid methyl ester, FAME) and biodiesel blends. - Thermal stability test device 895 Professional PVC Thermomat measures the thermal stability of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and other chlorine-containing resins (polymers) using the dehydrochlorination (DHC) method. Both devices use heating to reproduce the deterioration reactions occurring within the sample, such as oxidative decomposition and thermal deterioration, significantly accelerating the rate of deterioration. Measure the induction time or, in the case of polymers, the stability time, also known as the oxidative stability index (OSI). All of these comply with national and international standards. advantage ■What is oxidation stability test? Metrohm's proven Rancimat method uses heating and continuous aeration to accelerate the aging process of the sample and measure its stability. An air stream transports the volatilized oxidation products from the sample container to a container containing distilled water. The device then measures the conductivity of the water. The induction time can be measured as the time until the conductivity suddenly increases significantly. Induction time is a standard parameter for quality inspection of fats and oils in the food industry. ■What is polymer thermal stability testing? A dehydrochlorination test is performed by heating a polymer sample to promote decomposition. As the polymer decomposes, it releases hydrogen chloride (HCl). A continuous flow of nitrogen transports the released HCl from the sample container to a container containing distilled water. On the other hand, the conductivity in the sample container is continuously measured. When HCl is released, the conductivity increases. The stability time is the time it takes for the conductivity to increase by 50 µS/cm compared to the start of the measurement, and is a measure of thermal stability.
