When considering a fastening mechanism for high-speed or heavy rotational motion, it is difficult to find a solution to this problem as excessive external force is applied to the bolt due to the influence of the moment of inertia, making it more likely to loosen. There are many ways to prevent bolts and nuts from loosening, but this increases the weight of the nuts and increases the load. Therefore, in most cases bolts are bolted directly to the structure.

For example, when the horizontal reciprocating motion of a SCARA robot suddenly stops or starts, a large amount of inertia is generated, and screw mechanisms such as bolts tend to loosen.If you increase the size for safety reasons, the inertia will increase and the driving load will increase. .

In such cases, friction pads and friction shims are sheet-shaped pads and shims that have been treated to have a high coefficient of static friction, so they can be used like washers on bolts to prevent them from loosening. By reducing the number, weight, and size, it reduces the load and prevents rotation from slipping.

The base material of the friction pad/friction shim is the same high-tensile stainless steel used for steel belts, and both sides are coated with cemented carbide, giving it high rigidity and bendability. In addition, it can be used when a high coefficient of friction and durability are required due to rotation or contact, such as when an excessive force is applied to the surface, or when a rough surface is desired for durability during handling.
