This is a braid using rayon (spun yarn), which is a staple fiber. Rayon is a type of recycled synthetic fiber. It has a good feel and is heat resistant so it does not soften.
Kongo-da (12-stroke) has a breaking strength that is about 40% lower than that of 3-stroke rope, so it is not suitable for applications that require strength, but it is difficult to twist (kink) and is very flexible.
