About This Product

The 5699 Metal Sheath Standard Platinum Resistance Thermometer has all the benefits of Fluke's protective sheathed probes and can be used in virtually any furnace or bath up to 670°C. The 5699 is designed and manufactured by Fluke Calibration's temperature standards engineers and has a distortion-free sensor section that meets standard platinum resistance thermometer specification ITS-90 to minimize long-term drift. Under normal use, even after one year, the drift is less than 0.008 °C (typical value less than 0.003 °C). Even lower drift rates are possible depending on care and handling. To reduce electrical noise (especially during AC measurements), a ground wire is added to the four leads for grounding. The 5699 can be said to be a product that has greatly improved the standard platinum resistance thermometer with an Inconel sheath, which was the old industrial standard. The 5699 is a durable, fast response standard platinum resistance thermometer (SPRT) with a 5.56 mm diameter Inconel sheath. Inside the sheath, the sensor part is protected by a thin platinum housing, which prevents contamination of the platinum by reaction with metal ions that appear inside the hot metal case. This less loss of purity due to compounding means lower drift even after hours of use in high-temperature metal block furnaces. To calibrate your 5699, choose from a variety of options, including fixed-point calibration from -200 °C to 661 °C in Fluke's primary standards lab.
