■Organic cotton avanTI x Inagaki MachineryWe receive organic cotton produced by Avanti Co., Ltd. and sell it in cones and skeins so that it can be easily handled as weaving yarn. Available in single thread and double thread.

■Japan's proud thread "twisting" technologyThe type of cloth to be made is determined by the thread. Even if the weaving method is the same, the expression of the cloth will change dramatically if the threads are different. Therefore, for Avanti, a fabric manufacturer, thread production is a vital and extremely important process. I have traveled all over the country in search of unique thread making.

In Japan, various techniques for twisting thread have been cultivated over many years in order to make crepe fabrics of silk and linen. One such example is water twisting, which is now only practiced in limited places.

In the process of twisting several threads together, a thin nozzle sprays water on them incessantly. By doing this, the thread becomes loose and evenly twisted, making it a strong and beautiful thread after drying. Additionally, by twisting the threads evenly, beautiful wrinkles (warts) appear on the surface of the cloth, giving it a smooth texture.

Nowadays, there are fewer engineers, and Avanti believes that this kind of technology should be utilized for organic cotton. There is nothing more wonderful than being able to experience the techniques that our ancestors have cultivated over many years in the fabrics we use every day.
