About This Product

■Achieves high-precision shielding of specific locations with detectors that use radiation (X-rays, gamma rays, etc.) and visible light, etc.With detectors that use light such as radiation or visible light, the output data after detection (e.g. captured images, intensity distribution, etc.) will show areas that you want to see and areas that have been deleted due to noise.

At Toray Precision, we use our unique high-precision microfabrication technology to manufacture masks for use in detectors that use radiation and visible light on a contract basis.

■What is a mask?For example, detectors that use radiation such as X-rays, gamma rays, and electron beams, as well as visible light, are being researched and developed in many fields, and are actually being incorporated into equipment. When a detector detects the target to be measured, noise may occur that may interfere with the measurement or cause false detections during post-process inspections. A mask is used to remove this assumed noise (blocking light reception in a specific area) during the detection stage of the detector.

The important points when it comes to masks are 1) material selection, as shielding performance changes depending on the type of light such as radiation and visible light, and 2) mask shape, which determines the shielding areas within the mask. At Toray Precision, we manufacture masks using materials and shapes that match customer requests.

■Features of Toray Precision・High precision and fine processing possible
・Minimum hole size: Φ0.5μm, minimum column width size: 0.1μm
・Corner radius can be machined to a small size, making corner edges sharp (compared to etching)
・Narrow pitch machining is possible
・Can process difficult-to-cut materials with high melting points (tungsten, molybdenum, tantalum, etc.) with high precision.
・Drawing is done with a beam, eliminating the need for masks required with etching methods, which can be expected to reduce the number of processes when making prototypes, making it relatively easy to implement.
・Can be processed into any size and pattern (high degree of freedom in shape)
・Mesh processing is also possible
・If you wish to apply mesh processing to a thin film that is difficult to handle, we can manufacture a holder for easy handling.
・Applicable materials include not only metals in general but also semiconductor materials (Si, SiC, etc.)
