About This Product

■Summary

The Exicor MicroImager developed by HINDS is a state-of-the-art device that automatically measures the retardation and fast axis caused by birefringence of a sample with high spatial resolution and high precision. Image measurement is achieved using a high-pixel CCD camera based on polarization measurement using a photoelastic modulator (PEM). When using a 5x objective lens, the field of view is 2.2 mm square and the spatial resolution is 2 µm. It enables quantitative evaluation of minute birefringence distributions that are difficult to observe with conventional polarizing microscopes. It is also possible to measure at multiple wavelengths and measure high-order phase differences.

■High measurement performance

Achieving retardation resolution of 0.01nm and noise floor of 0.2nm, it is possible to measure industrial materials with low distortion. Furthermore, by adopting a high-resolution CCD camera with 4M pixels, it is possible to clearly capture complex birefringence distributions such as in biological samples. The measurement wavelength can be switched between 4 wavelengths: 450nm, 530nm, 590nm, and 630nm, making it possible to not only measure at a wavelength suitable for the sample, but also to measure high-order birefringence. You can also switch between two lighting systems. Kohler illumination is suitable for applications that require spatial resolution, such as biological samples, and parallel light illumination is suitable for industrial products that require quantification performance. All measurements are automatically controlled by software and are easy to handle.

The Exicor MicroImager's hardware and software are designed by HINDS. We support customization such as custom-made stages and various polarization analyses.
