■Product overview

The XS1 X-ray source sample chamber can be used in conjunction with an Edinburgh Instruments fluorescence spectrophotometer (FLS1000, FS5). An X-ray source capable of CW and pulse oscillation is mounted inside the sample chamber. A solution, substrate, or powder sample is excited with X-rays, and the ultraviolet/visible/near-infrared emission is transmitted to a fluorescence spectrophotometer using a liquid light guide fiber.

■XS1 internal configuration

After irradiating the sample with X-rays, the fluorescence is transmitted, collimated in a 180° direction, and focused into a liquid light guide fiber. The mounting positions of the CW and pulsed X-ray sources are preset and can be easily replaced manually by the user.

■Sample holder inside the X-ray source chamber

1. Sample holder for powder (standard equipment): diameter 25mm x thickness 2mm 2. Sample holder for substrates and films (standard equipment): Compatible with circular or rectangular substrates, 10 to 25 mm in diameter x 3 mm in thickness. 3. Cuvette holder for solution (standard equipment): 10 × 10mm 4. Cuvette holder for solution (optional): 1 × 10mm 5. EPR sample holder for powder/crystals (optional): 3mm inner diameter (can also accommodate single crystals)

■Connection with FS5/FLS1000 fluorescence spectrophotometer

・N-L05 for FLS1000 and SC-50 type liquid guide fiber optical system for FS5 are installed inside the spectrophotometer. ・2m liquid guide fiber allows easy transmission of fluorescence and phosphorescence from the X-ray source chamber ・The standard liquid light guide fiber has a wavelength range of 340 to 800 nm. ・Other wavelengths are also available upon request.

■X-ray safety

The sample chamber is designed to prevent X-rays from escaping. The power supply for the X-ray source is linked to the chamber lid, and is automatically switched off when the sample chamber is opened. *The safety of the XS1 has been confirmed in advance, but if X-ray safety certification is required, please follow the regulations of each delivery destination.
