About This Product
This instrument is used to precisely measure the effects of discontinuities in waveguide circuits and the directionality of directional couplers.
This device has a structure that allows the resistor to be accurately translated in parallel along the tube axis over a distance of more than 1/2 of the tube wavelength. Therefore, if you use this instrument, you can change only the phase angle while keeping the input VSWR constant, so if you use it as a load for the element you are trying to measure, you can change the phase angle of the reflected wave and remove it from the load. It is possible to eliminate reflections and separate and measure only the reflections from the necessary areas.
Now, when we move the resistor of the movable non-reflection terminator and measure the VSWR, if the maximum value is ρM and the minimum value is ρm, then the VSWRρx at the intermediate discontinuity point can be calculated using the following formula.
ρx=√ρM×ρm… (1) or ρx=√ρM/ρ… (2) If the reflection at the discontinuity point is larger than the reflection from the movable non-reflective terminator, use equation (1); if it is smaller, use equation (2) ), but in this case, the other value indicates the VSWR of the movable non-reflection terminator, so it can be easily determined if this value is known.
