■Summary

-The N-Pen N110 is a lightweight, battery-powered, reflectance-based device. -Provides a convenient and cost-effective method for effective nitrogen management throughout the plant growing season. ・N-Pen measures the amount of nitrogen based on the correlation between chlorophyll content and nitrogen content using reflectance measurement. N-pen N110 quantifies the reflectance of leaves illuminated with two LED light sources (565nm or 760nm), calculates the NDGI index from the average reflectance value, and calculates the relative nitrogen content in plant dry matter or post-harvest grain. Predict and measure nitrogen content. Due to the differences in leaf structure of various crops, formulas for calculating nitrogen content were developed specifically for wheat, barley, and corn. Several tests on each crop have yielded similar results. The N-Pen is preset to allow 10 average measurements. After completing a series of measurements, calculate the average NDGI value and the corresponding nitrogen content (%) in the plant dry matter. The average value is calculated from the remaining 8 values, excluding the maximum and minimum values. If one (or more) of the eight values ​​is significantly different from the rest (outliers), N-Pen is set to not accept it and repeat the supplementary measurements. Abnormal values, such as high variation in measurements, are usually caused by leaf damage, disease infection, or if the leaf is not properly secured in the measurement chamber. To exclude outliers from measurements, N-Pen uses the Smirnov-Grubbs test for outliers and calculates the t-value as the maximum absolute deviation from the mean. This t-value is compared to the values ​​listed in the Smirnov-Grubbs test critical values ​​table. If the calculated t-value is greater than the critical value, the value is likely to be an outlier and is excluded.
