About This Product

Sodium hypochlorite pentahydrate has been known for a long time, but only an approximately 12% aqueous solution was commercially available. Nippon Light Metal was the first company in the world to successfully commercialize the pentahydrate, and began selling it as "Nikkei Diaso® Pentahydrate" in 2013.

■High concentration

・While a general sodium hypochlorite aqueous solution (general diaso aqueous solution) has an effective chlorine concentration of 12%, SHC5® has an effective chlorine concentration of 42% (NaOCl concentration: 44%), which is approximately 3.5 times the concentration ratio. ・Wastewater volume can be significantly reduced.

■High purity

SHC5® is a high-purity product that uses our patented manufacturing method to reduce raw materials and by-products such as NaOH, NaCl, NaClO3, NaBrO3, and metal impurities such as iron and chromium.

■Can be stored for a long time

- If stored in a tightly sealed plastic container in a constant temperature bath completely shielded from light, it will be stable for one year at temperatures below 7℃. ・At 20°C, it is relatively stable for about a week, but decomposition accelerates after that, producing salt and sodium chlorate (NaClO3). Additionally, it decomposes significantly in the molten state (30°C).

■Can be prepared as a highly concentrated aqueous solution

・Can be prepared into any high concentration aqueous solution (~30%) at room temperature. ・A 20% highly concentrated diaso aqueous solution prepared from SHC5® is stable even after 24 hours at 20℃.

■High oxidizing power

Many conventional oxidizing agents are toxic and explosive, but SHC5® itself is less dangerous and produces only salt and water by-products, making it an environmentally friendly oxidizing agent. Furthermore, SHC5® has a high effective chlorine concentration of 42%, and achieves higher volumetric efficiency compared to general diaso aqueous solutions. Additionally, SHC5® can be applied to various oxidation reactions such as those shown below.
