About This Product

■Summary

Oragene® DISCOVER (Model number: OGR-600) is a kit that allows you to easily collect high-quality DNA from saliva. DNA can be collected safely and easily by simply collecting saliva. With this kit, you can collect DNA and store it at room temperature for a long period of time. DNA can also be extracted and purified using Oragene purification solution (sold separately). Clinical genetic research and testing, such as not being able to recover a sufficient amount of DNA from oral cells, nails, or hair using a cotton swab, and the difficulty of obtaining consent to donate blood for DNA recovery. We also recommend it to researchers involved in cohort studies, including Since it can be used safely by everyone from children to the elderly, it is also used for consulting services such as genetic testing. Kyodo International is the importer and distributor of Oragene®/DISCOVER in Japan. *This kit is a research reagent.

■Characteristics of DNA collection kit Oragene

- Saliva samples are collected non-invasively, without injuring the body like blood sampling, making it easier to obtain DNA samples. ・Since saliva is only collected, it is safe and easy to collect. (This makes it easier to collect DNA from people who are unable to collect blood or who are far away.) - Capable of collecting, extracting, and purifying approximately 110 μg (median data) of highly pure DNA from 2 mL of saliva. *There will be individual differences in the amount of DNA. ・Can collect, preserve, extract, and purify DNA. (Purification solution is sold separately.) ・Mainly collects DNA derived from white blood cells contained in saliva. It has a low proportion of bacterial DNA contamination and can be used for genetic analysis (PCR, SNPs analysis, microarray, HLA typing, next-generation sequencer, whole-genome association analysis, etc.). - Saliva can be stored for several years at room temperature. (Samples can be sent by mail, and there are no storage costs. It is not recommended to store them in refrigeration at 4℃ for long periods. Store them at room temperature or freeze them.) *Oragene tubes are not compatible with freezing environments, so please transfer them to a freezing tube for storage.
