It is widely used in parts such as. However, magnesium has the disadvantage of significantly poorer corrosion resistance than other practical metals, so in order to put it into practical use, it is necessary to apply a surface treatment suitable for the intended use of the product. Chemical conversion treatment is a type of surface treatment that forms a film on the surface of materials such as metals using chemical methods. By causing a chemical reaction on the surface of the material and changing its surface condition, it gives properties that the original material lacked, such as increasing corrosion resistance and improving adhesion with paint.

■Chemical conversion treatments for magnesium alloys are broadly classified as follows.

・Method using chromic acid as the main ingredient, which has excellent corrosion resistance ・Chromium-free, which is easily affected by the surface condition of the material (degree of contamination, etc.) In recent years, there has been a shift to chromium-free processing solutions that do not use hexavalent chromium, which is toxic, from the perspective of protecting the natural environment and preventing health damage. In order to solve these problems that occur with hard alumite treatment, we have developed a chromium-free chemical conversion treatment (GD coat) that has excellent corrosion resistance. Our GD coat is an environmentally friendly chemical conversion coating made of phosphoric acid. In addition to improving corrosion resistance, which was considered difficult to achieve with chromium-free coatings, GD coating has excellent features such as paint adhesion and electrical resistance.
