■MIL/JIS standard overviewJIS and MIL standards are used for magnesium. JIS stands for (Japanese Industrial Standards). Among them, JISH8651 (Chemical conversion treatment and anodic oxide coating of magnesium and magnesium alloys) is a standard that evaluates anodic oxide coatings and chemical conversion coatings in terms of corrosion resistance, conductivity, and average coating thickness. Regarding anodic oxide coatings, Dow17 treatment was originally considered as the standard for HAE, but now various anodic oxide coatings have been developed for different purposes, so the standards are within basic values.

Unlike JIS, the MIL standard (United States Defense Standard) has separate standards for anodizing treatment and chemical conversion treatment, and is carried out strictly in accordance with the standard. MIL-M-45202C is a standard regarding anodic oxide coatings. Mainly, HAE and Dow17 films are divided into two types, thin film and thick film, and managed by classifying them into classes such as color, sealing, aging, etc.
