About This Product

TOM (Three dimension Overlay Method) molded products are products with enhanced design and functionality by laminating a special film onto the surface of base materials of various shapes. It has the advantages of not having to choose the base material, allowing for rich expression including tactile sensations and adding various functions, and having a low environmental impact during the manufacturing process. For this reason, it is often used in automobile interior parts that require a high level of design and functionality.

■TOM molding methodTOM molded products are made by bonding a film to a base material using a manufacturing method called vacuum/pressure forming. Vacuum/pressure forming uses air pressure to bring the film into close contact with the mold or base material, thereby forming the film into the shape of the mold or base material.

■TOM molding process①Set the base material and film in the device.
② Place the device in an airtight state and heat the film to soften it. Also, depressurize the bottom box to create a vacuum.
③ Push up the base material and apply pressure to the upper box at the same time to make the film adhere to the base material.
④Remove the base material from the mold and trim the excess film.

■FilmWith TOM molding, the film is attached as is, so the feel and texture of the film can be reflected as is. Furthermore, by using films with properties such as waterproofing, stainproofing, and chemical resistance, these functions can be added to TOM molded products.
