About This Product
Etched nameplates are made by coating stainless steel (SUS), brass (BS), or aluminum (AL) with a photosensitive agent, applying photolithography to form a corrosion-resistant film, and then locally etching the surface with a chemical that dissolves the metal. This is a nameplate made by etching (engraving) to form irregularities and pouring melamine resin paint into the recessed areas.
*Melamine resin paint is a mixture of alkyd resin and melamine resin, and is widely used as a glossy baking paint for automobiles, electrical products, etc. To be more precise, it is called an alkyd-melamine resin paint, and the main ingredient is alkyd resin, and the melamine resin acts as a crosslinking agent when baked.
■Characteristics of etched nameplate
・It has excellent durability and is often used as nameplates for long-term equipment and outdoor nameplates.
・It has a three-dimensional appearance, and even in the event of a fire or fading, it is possible to distinguish the displayed content from the unevenness of the surface.
・Suitable for small and medium-sized production.
■Production process
Etched nameplates are manufactured using the following process.
Baking → Corrosion → Coloring → Polishing → (Clear coating) → (Protective tape finish) → (Double-sided tape finish) → External finish

・Red (equivalent to DIC564)
・Blue (equivalent to DIC641)
・Yellow (equivalent to DIC569)
■Design considerations
- Due to the manufacturing method of pouring paint into concave areas, the area to be colored must be surrounded by a convex area.
・Engrave to a depth of 0.05mm to 0.10mm. Basically, the depth of the engraving cannot be specified.
-Due to the manufacturing method, image reproducibility is not good, so the minimum line width that can be reproduced is approximately 0.2mm.
- A decorative frame is required as the color will fade if the colored part is cut.
・Products that can be laser marked are also available.
