About This Product

AC-X/W is a thick film specification of DLC coating (ta-C type), which is a thicker version of the DLC standard film <AC-X>. By instantaneously arc-evaporating graphite and extracting highly purified ionized carbon, a smooth and hard film is achieved. With a thick film of 0.5 to 0.7 microns and high hardness, it is effective in preventing adhesion in aluminum and copper processing. It is not suitable for machining that is subject to shocks that can easily cause chipping. (To ensure adhesion, we recommend using carbide as the base material.)

■Application examples of DLC coating <AC-X/W>

Sintered alloy cutting tools, aluminum die-casting cutting carbide tools, non-ferrous processing carbide tools, etc.

■Characteristics of DLC coating

DLC stands for <Diamond Like Carbon> and is a surface treatment technology that coats metal surfaces with a thin film mainly made of carbon. DLC, which is a mixture of structures such as diamond and graphite, is harder and slippery than general ceramic coatings such as titanium-based and chromium-based, and has properties such as ``wear resistance'' and ``resistance to adhesion of non-ferrous metals.'' Excellent. The discovery of DLC dates back to 1971. At that time, a ``black, hard film'' was discovered by chance during an experiment to synthesize diamond from methane gas, and it was subsequently named DLC and research has continued. Today, it is used in a wide range of industries as a coating that supports manufacturing, including cutting tools and molds, as well as automobile parts, mechanical parts, and medical parts.

■Characteristics of ta-C type

The ta-C type has a DLC coating with a tetrahedral amorphous carbon structure. The diamond structure has a high sp3 ratio, making it hard and highly wear resistant.
