About This Product

DLC-EX is our standard DLC coating (a-C:H type) that has been in use for over 30 years since our founding. Low-temperature film formation means less distortion or deformation of the base material due to heat, and it has a good reputation for its smooth and hard film quality. It is widely used in mechanical parts where wear and galling are a problem, as well as aluminum and copper processing tools and molds where adhesion is a problem.

■Characteristics of DLC coating

DLC stands for <Diamond Like Carbon> and is a surface treatment technology that coats metal surfaces with a thin film mainly made of carbon. DLC, which is a mixture of structures such as diamond and graphite, is harder and slippery than general ceramic coatings such as titanium-based and chromium-based, and has properties such as ``wear resistance'' and ``resistance to adhesion of non-ferrous metals.'' Excellent. The discovery of DLC dates back to 1971. At that time, a ``black, hard film'' was discovered by chance during an experiment to synthesize diamond from methane gas, and it was subsequently named DLC and research has continued. The a-C:H type is a DLC coating with a hydrogenated amorphous carbon structure. It contains hydrogen within the membrane and is characterized by an excellent balance of hardness and toughness.
