About This Product

■Basic properties: concave lensA lens that diverges light, contrary to a convex lens, is called a concave lens. Depending on the shape of both sides of the lens, there are various types: biconcave, plano-concave, and convex-concave (concave meniscus). Light passing through a concave lens mainly has the following properties.

- After passing through a concave lens, light rays parallel to the axis spread out and proceed as if they were coming from a single point (focal point) on the axis on the incident side (divergence).
・Light rays heading towards the focal point at the back of the lens travel parallel to the axis after passing through the concave lens.
・Light rays passing through a node travel without changing the angle, just like a convex lens.

The image formed by a concave lens is always an erect virtual image and is on the same side as the object. When the focal length is expressed as a negative number (f0), the same lens formula as for a convex lens holds true.

■Material: BK-7BK Group glass has been widely used for a long time because it has good light transmittance up to short wavelengths, has few bubbles, striae, and discoloration, and is hard and scratch-resistant. Among them, BK7 is a relatively hard glass that is scratch resistant, easy to handle, and does not require any special treatment when polishing. The bubbles and inclusions contained in BK7 are 0.029 mm2 per 100 cm2, and it has good transmittance for wavelengths above 350 nm.
