■introductionIn many gas chromatography applications, low concentrations of unstable components are present. These components break down on chemically active surfaces, such as the stainless steel used in gas chromatography parts. This leads to inaccurate analysis and reduced reproducibility. Heating the stainless steel surface further increases the decomposition of unstable components.

Da Vinci has developed a special coating process called Ultra Silk. This prevents degradation of chemically active surfaces and provides better and more reliable chromatographic results.

■Ultra silk treatmentUltra Silk Treatment applies an inert coating to untreated areas of stainless steel, borosilicate glass or quartz. All parts are professionally cleaned to remove surface contamination before Ultra Silk coating begins. Ultrasilk treatment improves the precision and reproducibility of gas chromatography analyses.

The coating thickness ranges from 100 to 200 nm (nanometers). Coatings on metal parts appear as iridescent glitter, and coatings on glass parts appear as golden or iridescent glitter.
