About This Product

Hydrogen is an ideal replacement for helium as a carrier gas. It offers faster analysis, higher efficiency, lower cost, and longer column life. However, using hydrogen is also dangerous. To eliminate the risks of using hydrogen as a carrier gas, Da Vinci Laboratory Solutions developed the DVLS3 Simply, Smart Sensor. Constantly monitoring the hydrogen concentration in the GC oven and automatically switching to inert gas ensures the safety of hydrogen use in GC analysis.

■Monitoring hydrogen in the GC ovenAlthough GC analysis clearly benefits from hydrogen, this carrier gas has the disadvantage of being an explosive gas. A broken GC column or loose connections can cause hydrogen to leak and cause an explosion within the GC oven. Although GCs are durable and reduce the risk to staff, labs may have to replace them.

■When the sensor detects a preset hydrogen concentration (usually 25% to 50% LEL), the following steps are taken to protect the safety of laboratory staff.1.The LCD screen of the sensor controller will start flashing and the controller will send an acoustic signal.
2. Optional sensor software alerts lab staff by:

3. The sensor controller automatically switches the carrier gas to inert gas and sends an automatic stop signal to the GC.

The DVLS3 Simply, Smart Sensor is installed inside the GC oven to continuously monitor the hydrogen concentration in the oven air. The external controller's LCD screen displays the measured gas concentration.

■Versatile designDVLS3Sensor's unique design allows you to combine up to 4 sensors in one controller. For example, you can use four sensors on multiple GCs, or connect multiple sensors to one GC. Sensor is compatible with all GC brands.
