■Summary

The AF-L series is an optical fiber adapter that optically matches the SP fiber's NA=0.22 numerical aperture and the SP spectrometer's f/#, and can also mechanically couple them. The AF-L series is an input adapter that focuses light from a fiber onto an input slit. The enlarged fiber image fills more of the slit. All light entering the slits enters the grating. The efficiency of this coupling is 4 to 20 times greater than that of a non-directly matched coupling. The AF-L series is an output adapter that focuses the light from the output slit onto a fiber. The resolved slit image focuses the light in the face of the fiber, taking advantage of the fiber's "faster" focusing angle. This join is 2 to 4 times more efficient than a direct non-aligned join. The AF-L series allows for highly accurate parallel fiber movement in 3 axes. Linear motion can be performed with an accuracy of 0.001" or less. The AF-L series is equipped with a UV lens as standard, achieving a transmittance of over 90% from 200nm to 1.900nm.
