About This Product

■Summary

The MECO EP Type 3 model is a highly versatile split seal for horizontal dryers and reactors in vacuum service. EP Type 3 is a double mechanical seal that uses a mechanical drive to rotate a bearing-grade synthetic seal face against the stationary face of a fixed stainless steel seal. EP Type 3 is a full-contact, soft-face mechanical shaft seal that is custom designed to fit your machine with little or no modification.

■Optimal application of EP type 3 seal

MECO EP Type 3 seals are ideal for rotating equipment such as dryers, sigma mixers, paddle mixers, reaction vessels, extruders, etc. used in plastics, chemical, metals, and various other process industries. Typically used with horizontal or inclined shafts or vertical top seals, they are made to be completely separated into two parts for installation and maintenance. This seal can handle high-temperature applications and challenges where the shaft or body has significant thermal expansion and contraction. It is mainly used in high-temperature processes where rubber elastomers cannot be used, process materials that contain strong solvents and chemicals, and dryers in chemical plants where shafts and containers are subject to heat shrinkage during heating and cooling processes. used. Due to its sealing properties, it is possible to maintain a high degree of vacuum, making it possible to improve manufacturing efficiency in the vacuum drying process.

■MECO EP type 3 seal working principle

The MECO EP Type 3 seal is a precision machined two-piece seal that resembles a stuffing box and ground follower in appearance. An original, patented mechanical drive mechanism, the MECO-DR system consists of multiple rotating parts: a rotating resin rotor, woven packing, pusher ring, drive collar and drive pin. A drive collar is mechanically fixed to the shaft and drives all rotating parts via pins.
