About This Product

■Summary

MECO EP Type-1 seal models are designed for fluid, slurry, and paste applications with medium to very large shaft diameters that enter the vessel from any direction. The fully segmented seal uses an elastomeric drive to rotate one hardened stainless steel seal face against two fixed polymer bearing grade fixed seal faces. The EP Type-2 is designed around a unique fully segmented stuffing box type housing that utilizes an external spring to close the sealing face. The housing forms a sealed cavity, allowing gravity-fed water to flush and cool the chamber without back pressure.

■Applications for which EP type 1 is most suitable

If there is enough space around the seal, EP type 1 is a device with a pulper, agitator, various horizontal agitators, storage containers, flocculator, stirring conveyor, and various other rotating shafts, and has a high liquid ratio and is abrasive. Ideal for sealing high-grade slurries. If you don't have much space, you should consider EA type 1. EP type 1 is often used in equipment that handles slurries containing a lot of water or slurries with low viscosity, specifically in pulp and paper manufacturing, building materials such as fireproof products and mortar, sewage and waste liquid treatment, biomass and ethanol production, etc. I am. It was originally developed for bottom entry pulpers. It is designed to withstand shock loads that cause the shaft to shake or vibrate, as well as slurry containing a large amount of abrasive components. All parts of the seal can be manufactured completely separately, allowing installation and maintenance without disassembling the device.

■EP type 1 seal operating principle

EP Type 1 seals are precision machined two-piece seals that resemble a stuffing box and ground follower in appearance. It has an assembly of elastomer rubber and two stainless steel rotors inside the seal housing, and seals the inside of the process with a fully contacting sliding surface placed at right angles to the shaft. The inboard housing that is attached to the equipment has a stator attached to it that serves as the fixed side sealing surface, and the atmosphere side stator is attached to the ground follower side.
