SEA-GARD provides an effective rudder post seal in rough coastal waters. The wear material is softer than those used in traditional mechanical seals, allowing the use of wider radius sealing surfaces. Due to the wide radius of the sealing face, Sea-Gard can function even with heavy bearing wear that causes other seals to leak. Loading of the sealing surfaces is achieved by an elastomeric drive. There are no metal springs that can corrode or fail. The soft elastomer cushions shock loads and maintains seal integrity even under the harshest operating conditions. Fully segmented, ea-Gard is user-friendly and easy to install. The sealing surface can be handled freely. There are no gauge blocks, calibration rods, or special shaft finishes required for installation. Accurately measuring the shaft before purchase ensures proper calibration during assembly.
Sea-Gard seals are available in sizes to fit all rudder post diameters, and a variety of materials allow for compact designs that can be installed in areas with minimal axial clearance.
