About This Product

■Summary

MECO OFS Type-1 seals are fully segmented seals for vacuum, low pressure, fluid and abrasive applications. This design allows for both runout and thermal expansion at moderate speeds. OFS Type-1 positions a single stainless steel rotating seal face and spring-loads it against a single bearing grade polymer fixed seal face. Seals do not require barrier fluid. We have a wide variety of materials available, so we can handle a variety of processes. Fully segmented seals are custom designed for existing process equipment and can also be tailored to OEM and end-user requirements.

■Applications for which OFS type 1 is optimal

OFS Type 1 seals are ideal for vertical agitators, crystallizers, dryers, blenders, hoppers, and similar rotating equipment used in the petrochemical, plastics, metals, minerals, and other process industries. OFS Type 1 seals are used on top entry shafts and horizontal shafts. This seal has often been used to prevent leakage of process materials and to prevent atmospheric oxygen from entering the vessel under full vacuum or in relatively high temperature environments from crystallizers operating at cryogenic temperatures. . Specifically, it has been used in the production of plastic resins and additives, paraxylene, solvent-based inks, VOC encapsulation, rock candy, industrial chemicals, and industrial fermentation processes. High sealing performance helps contain product and gases, improves product purity, reduces batch time and batch consistency, and reduces equipment maintenance, and can be installed in as little as 2 to 4 hours per location. is possible.
